Cities and games have been selected for the 2007 Midnight Gaming Championship. Nintendo gamers can look forward to showing off their skills in Super Smash Bros. Melee, while NBA 2K7 and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 will also be on hand. The competition will also host the first ever 3D racing competition (courtesy of VR-like device HeadPlay) and mobile game tournament.

The competition will take place in Houston, Atlanta, Austin, and Oklahoma City on June 9, 16, 23, and 30; Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit, Albuquerque-Santa Fe, Charlotte on July 7, 14, 21, and 28; and Little Rock, Salt Lake City, Norfolk, Grand Rapids (Aug. 4), Flint, Mich. (Aug. 11), Lansing (Aug. 18), and Traverse City, Mich. (Aug. 25) on August 4, 11, 18, and 25. The final competition dates, September 8 and 15, are up to voting on the website as to where they will be held. Voting will continue until August 1.

Prizes and other goods will be provided by a select group of partners, including Nintendo, Coke Zero, Konami, and Spike TV. Among the prizes available, gamers will vie for cash, free food, a one-year subscription to Electronic Gaming Monthly, and round-trip airfare to Dallas with a one-night hotel stay to compete in the grand championship in October.
