Over 10 million Pokémon characters from the latest games in the series, Diamond and Pearl, have been traded through Nintendo Wi-Fi within both Japan and the U.S. as well as between the regions. The news comes courtesy of Famitsu's website, with translation by Gamasutra and NeoGAF members.

Over 500,000 Pokémon have been traded since the game's September release in Japan. Two million copies were made for the Japanese launch, and Diamond and Pearl are currently the fastest selling DS games in Japan ever. In the United States, over 500,000 pre-orders were made and over one million copies sold in the first five days of release on April 22. The games are the fastest selling titles in the Pokémon franchise to date.

The first Pokémon games to feature online elements, Diamond and Pearl will be released in Europe on July 27.
