Epilogue

As I was nearing the end of my 30 days with Wii Fit, I started to become conscious of what I was eating and just how much physical activity I was doing, which turned out to be not much.

I took an extra two weeks to do 30 minutes a day (as opposed to the daily hour during the experiment) of Wii Fit while also eating healthier foods and making an effort to do more physical activities than I normally would. I took a very casual approach to what I was doing, because I wasn't pressured to do certain exercises or spend so much time trying to lose weight.

The results were fantastic. Over the last two weeks I've lost an extra six pounds, bringing me to 184 lbs. This is an amount almost equal to that of which I lost over an entire month of doing nothing but Wii Fit.

I believe it's safe to say that using Wii Fit alone can help you lose weight, but you must consider the risks of that much physical activity on something that was not designed to be used as a sole resource of becoming "fit".

While I was able to eat my normal diet of fast food and other non-healthy meals, I'd like to point out that my metabolism is still strong; I'm still young and I can still afford to eat the way I eat. By no means do I wish to mislead anyone into believing that Wii Fit can keep you weight-neutral while you go and eat whatever the hell you want. It doesn't work that way.

Even in doing light exercises and eating healthy, I've managed to match my weight loss, and I feel better about it too.

This experiment turned out completely differently than I thought it would. When Wii Fit was announced last year at E3, I, like many others believed it would be a reason to get rid of a gym membership and spend some quality time with our Wii's.

Reality turned out to be the complete opposite: Wii Fit is the reason to get a gym membership.

I applaud Nintendo for this product; even with its shortcomings it's given me clarity on my outlook of being in shape and fit. Now, if only they marketed it that way, the citizens of this planet could finally get in shape.
